Missions - Our Global Burden
Did you know that even in today's modern, technological world where anyone
with access to a computer can find practically anything on the web there are
still millions of people who have never heard of Jesus Christ and the Word of
God? This is hard to imagine if you live in one of the 'so-called' developed
nations, yet it is true.
One of our greatest desires is to bring the Gospel to those who have not yet
heard the Good News of Jesus. This page is dedicated to those men and women
called of God to go to a third world or developing nation to do missionary work.
They are being sent by the Lord to preach the gospel and to help local pastors
evangelize and strengthen the church. They will share the glorious gospel of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with those who have never heard His name or His
Good News.
We have received countless requests from pastors and individuals around the
world for assistance with their personal walks with God, their ministry, and to
preach at their churches, church conventions, and pastoral conferences. We are
currently praying and planning for trips to several locations in India, many
countries in Africa, Katmandu province in Nepal, the Philippines, Pakistan, and
the Ukraine.
Rev. Daniel Bernier has a burden for Nepal and has received an invitation
from a local pastor there to minister in the churches, the surrounding
countryside and villages, and on the streets of Katmandu - places where many
have never even heard the name of Jesus.
| This is an excerpt from a recent letter from a pastor in Nepal.
Dear Brother, recently I was told an experience of my friends
of Campus Crusades for Christ who returned from the outreach to northern
mountains of Nepal. They asked a question to an old man, "have you heard about
Jesus?," but the old man replied that "here are only Sherpas in this villages,
so go and ask in another village, he is not from this village." It is the Third
Millennium, and our Savior gave up His life almost 2000 years ago. But here in
Asia, are many people who have not heard even the name of Jesus. For them Jesus
is not their villager, but may be someone from another village.

As a result of our website and radio broadcasts throughout the continent of
Africa we have been invited to do an extended ministry in a number of countries
there. Rev. Josiah Bernier and his family will be the ones to answer these
invitations. Their itinerary is a work in progress as requests from each pastor
and individual is prayed over for the Lord's direction. They will definitely be
going to Nairobi, Kenya which is currently a very dangerous place to be, whether
a native or foreigner.
| Excerpts from a pastor in Nigeria, Africa:
We are 14 Christian members working as a team spreading the
gospel of Christ to prisons and students in the campuses. We have found that
most students in campus involve themselves in cultism. Secret cults have become
rampant in most Nigerian high institutions. The cult members in Owo, Ondo State
Polytechnic killed 3 of our members 2 months ago. This almost stopped us from
going to the campus to preach because it is a risky job that involves life.
But…we are not working for man, but working for God and our good works shall not
be rewarded on earth but in heaven.
We are in a great Miracle Harvest with you, we would not mind
whatever copies of Bibles you will be able to send to us at this difficult time.
Remember God has promised, "he that giveth unto the poor shall not lack."
(Proverbs 28:27). I thank God we now have a place inside the campus where we can
fellowship with them on a regular basis. But in order for these prisoners and
students to meet their potentials in Christ we need Bibles and other religious
materials. With the help of Bibles these prisoners and students will learn how
to lift up their voices to God with one accord in Christ fashion and pray for
courage to speak the word of God with boldness.
Please, you are the only hope we have, we believe in you and
God will use you to do for his kingdom. Do not forget these lost souls as you
strive to do the works of God. My glasses got broken in Ondo State when we were
beaten by these secret cult students. I cannot use small print Bible. Please
kindly help me with one GIANT PRINT BIBLE (KJV) for my personal use. I also use
this golden opportunity to solicit for 5 STUDY BIBLES for my teammates who lost
the study Bibles when running for their lives. Please pray for Elder Dayo Oluwa
and Bro. John Dele who had sever injuries during the incident and are still
receiving treatment at Ife-Ife Teaching Hospital.
We are also re-doubling our efforts to make sure we reach out
to Muslims for Christ, as they are not beyond Christ's redemption. Please pray
for us so that we would not lose our reward as we begin to obey God in this new
direction. Please pray that the hearts of those hearing the message will be open
to the gospel, that they will be kept safe, and their needs will be met.

Everyone is called to spread the gospel but not everyone feels
called to travel to other countries. We would like to offer you the opportunity
to share in the work, for as it is written, "As long as it is day, we must do
the work of him who sent Me. Night is coming when no man can work." (John 9:4).
We are not asking you to go and face the hardships and dangers of the third
world countries, yet others are willing, eager and ready to go. We would like to
offer you several opportunities to contribute to the work by committing to
prayer, donating Bibles, or any other contribution you would care to make.
To help you better understand the situation, here are more
excerpts from letters we have received from pastors, describing in their own
words the work before them.
A pastor in India writes:
"Here the things are going on well, the lord is helping us to
reach more people. Because of your kind prayers, the lord helped us to reach 15
unreached people groups last 2 months. the lord touched many tribal groups -
many gave their lives to Christ. PRAISE GOD FOR THAT. It sad to say the reason
why we are not able to reach many people groups it is lack of evangelistic
resources and encouragement and co-operation. Kindly pray for it. We are
desperately in need evangelistic tools. Kindly pray for it." |
Another letter from India:
"Since we are reaching 10 people groups in 3 districts, we are
in desperate need telugu bibles, wherever go for evangelism and outreach people
come and ask for bibles, sorry to say we don't have resources to provide them
freely bibles. I hope you can understand our situation, we need 2000 bibles to
distribute freely to them THIS MONTH, many Hindus and non-Christian communities
beg us for bibles. My heart hurts and feel so bad for not providing them bibles,
the reason many people cannot buy bibles because the affect of floods and
drought that cost many lives, many children and old and widows and people are
battling with life and death. Even though we have not physical food for them
maybe they can read and satisfy their souls and find heart comfort in this
desperate condition." |

Bibles
In the United States we are fortunate that churches and Bibles
are readily available to everyone but as you can see by these letters, the need
for Bibles in other countries is urgent beyond comprehension. Overseas there are
many places in dire need of true Christian churches and there is an urgent need
for Bibles. We receive letters every day from pastors who have either an
incomplete Bible or none at all. Their greatest desire is for a Bible so they
can spiritually feed the people in their congregation, (who have no Bibles
either.) Many of these pastors are praying daily to just be able to put food on
the table for their families. Purchasing a Bible is an expense that is far out
of their reach.
Most of the countries to which God is sending our ministers have
many illiterate people or the people speak another language. In these cases, it
is much less expensive and better stewardship of finances to send money to the
pastors so they may purchase Bibles in the correct dialect for their people. In
many places, even if finances were available to them, there are no Bibles to be
had. So, we also work with Bible translators who have their own publishing
facilities in a number of countries, making the shipping cost far less within
those countries than shipping from the United States. Shipping from the U.S. can
take months and the cost is usually much greater than the cost of the Bibles
themselves.
If you have new or used Bibles in good shape, please let us know
you are sending them to us. We will ship them to the appropriate location. We
request that you send King James Version Bibles. This is not a doctrinal issue
for us nor is it our belief that the King James Version is the only correct
version. We have just found that the King James Version is the most widely used
translation. We also receive many requests for large print Bibles due to the
number of people with vision problems in some of these countries.

can mail Bibles to.

Prayer
We earnestly seek your prayers for the following things that the
Lord has set into motion with Into the Light Ministries. Although all of the
dates have not yet been set, we will be going to Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe
and other parts of Africa, the Ukraine, India, Nepal, the Philippines, and New
Zealand as the Lord leads. Please pray that even now the Lord would be opening
the hearts of the people that they would hunger for, and receive, His Word
during this time of ministry. The Lord has already spoken to us about the
miracles that He will do in these places. Pray that the people will receive
Jesus. Pray for the safety of those who will boldly go to minister His Word, for
the Lord has told us very clearly that NOW is the time to go to the highways and
byways and invite the people in to the "Wedding Feast." (Matthew 22:1-14.)
Without prayer, mission work is impossible. This work needs the
wisdom that comes only from God so we can carry out His plans. In these troubled
times, the men and women who are sent out need constant prayers for the wisdom
they need to preach and for their safety. They need the anointing of God to
preach or their words and example are useless. Most of the ministers are leaving
some or all of their families behind and they will have personal needs while in
the field as will their families back home.
Most of the countries where they are going have many dangers.
Many people of God are being persecuted, kidnapped and tortured for spreading
the Good News of Jesus. Without prayer support their work is vastly more
dangerous and complicated. Missionaries face obstacles we never face in the U.S.
Many times they have the money to purchase food, but are in a place where there
is no food to buy. They may need to travel to another place to minister, but the
only way to reach it is by walking many miles or finding a camel or other such
means of transportation.
If you feel called to pray for this ministry, we would be
blessed if you would let us know by e-mail or regular post if the Lord speaks to
you to help in any way. Please feel free to check this page for updates and
information on the progress of this work as we receive it.
Thank you on behalf of both those who will be going and those
who will receive them.
